NAZARETH ARTS CENTER SCHEDULE

Upcoming Performances

Below is a list of upcoming shows and gallery openings taking place at the Nazareth Center for the Arts. You can also view these in calendar format.

To purchase tickets for upcoming shows, visit the online Box Office or Mitch's Market in Nazareth (on the corner of New and Belvidere Streets).

February Gallery features members of the Paint Box Art Club. The Artists reception will be on February 6 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

March Gallery features Judy Bauer's watercolor portraits. The show will run from March 1st to the 29th with a reception on Sunday the 6th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

April Gallery features Linda Stockman Berkowitz who does wildlife paintings and Mike Dlugos who does hand carved and painted decoys. The show will run from April 1st to the 26th with a reception on Sunday the 3rd from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Gallery Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon until 2:00 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. except on holiday weekends.

Open Mic Night is the second Wednesday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m.

School of Rock
Saturday, February 19, 2011 | 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

The School of Rock is set up so children learn the instrument of their choice and then get to jam with others in a show setting. This opens the door for kids to gain self confidence, which can only help in all their future endeavors. The school makes its return performance at the Center.

Elisha Kane with Boog
Friday, February, 25, 2011 | 8:00 - 9:30

Elisha Kane (pronounced like Elijah), a new comer to the Philadelphia songwriter circle, will be joined by Kyle Simmons, "Boog". Elisha is a dreamer and an optimist, he writes lyrics that are honest and straightforward. Elisha hails from Phoenixville, PA which is home to an abundance of musicians, songwriters and artists alike. It's this environment that helped shape the songwriter he is today. Influenced by many popular Folk, Country, Rock and Alternative songwriters, Elisha Kane hopes to make his mark.

Classic Guitar Recital
Saturday, February 26, 2011 | 2:00 & 3:30 p.m.

Classical guitarist and instructor Heath Hitchcock will perform along with his students during an afternoon matinée performance of classical guitar at the Center.

DREAM KIDS & the O'GRADY QUINLAN Academy of Irish Dancers
Friday, March 4, 2011 | 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

In 1996, Jaime Lyn Keller and Adam Bonanni turned a dream into reality. Wanting to truly make a difference, they founded Dream Kids, a non-profit organization comprised of young performers. 100% of the proceeds Dream Kids receive from their performances are donated to Dream Come True.

Steve Brosky, Jimmy Meyer and Friends
Saturday, March 5, 2011 | 7:30 - 9:00

Steve Brosky and Jimmy Meyer have won over 20 LV Music Awards, performed at Martin on Main last summer and will debut inside the Center for this performance. They'll be joined by a few friends to knock out both original music and blues covers.

Michael Sweigard
Friday, March 11, 2011 | 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Milton, PA's singer/songwriter, Michael Sweigard, returns to the Center for an acoustic performance. Raised in PA, Sweigard attends school in the Nashville area and has been honing his songwriting there, while performing on a regular basis.

Bill Toms
Saturday, March 12, 2011 | 8:00 - 10:00 p.m.

With a guitar, a pen, a lot of passion, Bill Toms connects to an audience and embraces the American traditions of rhythm, blues, soul, folk, and country. His gifts of music and storytelling, paired with his creative compulsion for songs that burrow deep into the soul, have his dedicated fans continually coming back for more.

Bill performed with The Houserockers for 19 years, during which time Bruce Springsteen produced their 1995 CD "American Babylon". As a soloist, Bill has toured throughout Europe and the United States. For this show he travels from his home town of Pittsburgh, PA.

Celtic Spirit Band | Four Leaf Clovers (open)
Wednesday, March 16, 2011 | 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

It's a St. Patrick's Eve celebration at the Center featuring the Celtic Spirit Band. Celtic Spirit is a band dedicated to presenting the traditional folk music of Ireland and Scotland along with contemporary and original compositions that we weave into our shows at all of the great locations where we have the fortune to perform. We have great respect for the traditions that we continue and owe a deep gratitude not only to the composers of the songs we play, but also to all those who have influenced our music through the years. Opening for Celtic Spirit with a twenty minute set will be the Four Leaf Clovers. They are four homeschooled friends, two of them brothers. The boys' peppy renditions of Irish favorites are sure to have you smiling.

Craig Thatcher & Nyk Van Wyke
Friday, March 18, 2011 | 8:00 - 9:30

Lehigh Valley based blues/rock singer and guitarist Craig Thatcher returns to the Center to perform with violin virtuoso Nyk Van Wyke and may be joined by a few others from his Craig Thatcher Blues Band. Thatcher's performance of many of Eric Claptons' songs are renowned and his previous performances have left the audiences in awe and wanting for more.

Mike Pilgermayer
March 25, 2011 | 8:00 - 9:30 p.m.

Mike's music combines rhythmic grooves, magnetic melodies, and memorable lyrics that take the listener in many directions . He uses rock, jazz, funk and folk to create a unique sound that is honest, raw, and real. Mike describes his music as "A batter of multiple influences thrown into a musical cookie jar, and depending on the mental appetite at the time, taken back out fully baked to feed famished song enthusiasts everywhere." Maggie Spike
Saturday, March 26, 2011 | 8:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Berks County, PA natives Peggy and Eric Gernerd are the musical duo, MAGGIE SPIKE. MAGGIE SPIKE are singer/songwriters whose music takes you to a place where melody, rhythm, harmony and poignant lyrics converge to create a sound that is easily accessible and highly entertaining.

Drawing from a mixed bag of musical styles such as folk, rock, jazz, Celtic, reggae and world music, they perform their self-penned songs with passionate appeal and soulful insight. Their latest cd, “Sol Paradise” is a world/jazz/folk influenced cd and draws from the musical talents of 20 musicians from Berks and Lancaster Counties, and the Lehigh Valley.

Lester Hirsh
Friday, April 1, 2011 | 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Lester Hirsh Grammy nominated guitarist, singer/songwriter, and poet returns to the Center to perform on a Spanish 6-string and acoustic 12-string guitar. His style ranges from classical, country, and folk, to Brazilian jazz and Flamenco. His repertoire includes original compositions as well as standards performed with intriguing percussive guitar riffs and harmonica.

The Who Knows Band
Saturday, April 2, 2011 | 8:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Keith Naylor (vocals, acoustic & electric guitar) comes from a folk and rock roots, Jack Boyer (percussion and vocals) plays swing, rock, country, blues, Latin, and reggae, Dale Barth (violin virtuoso), Chuck Kagel (bass guitar), and Allan Cook, The Dr. of Funk, Jive, Jazz & Junk a.k.a. "The One Man Horn Section" comprise the Who Know Band. Expect to hear songs from a range of musicians from the Beatles and Clapton to the Allman Brothers and Skynard. Their song lists includes Matchbox 20, Paul Simon, the Talking Heads, Dave Matthews, Dire Straits and many more.

Mark Presti
Thursday, April 7, 2011 | 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Mark Prestifilippo, a.k.a. Presti, is a guitarist/singer from Nazareth who plays a range of music including rock, pop, and country. True to the area's musical heritage, he might even through in a polka!

Music Without Boundaries Fusing Jazz-World-Roots-Classical-Funk-Ambient-Electronica-Trance An Eclectic Musical Melange features: J. Jody Janertta-drums/percussion, Paul "Woz" Woznicki-synths/flute and harmonica and Steve Testa-bass.

To experience the music of Adelante is to be taken on an aural journey that touches mind, body and spirit. Cruise Ship, Professional Touring Company and Broadway musician/singer, Gabe Toth, returns to the Center for a home town performance! When Gabe is not in New York City or Nashville, he is often entertaining for Princess and Holland America Cruise Lines or working with students at the Centenary Stage Company.

Gar Francis
Saturday, April 16, 2011 | 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Gar Francis. Gar has been performing and entertaining audiences for years. He plays 60s hits, blues, and Americana. As a singer/songwriter, Gar has received awards for songwriting from The John Lennon Song Contest, the Unisong Music Awards, and an Honorable Mention in the Billboard Song Contest.

Anthony de Costa, touring with Plume Giant, makes a solo stop in Nazareth and will be joined by Brittany Tranbaugh. In 2009, Anthony was named an MSNBC.com "Top 5 Up-&-Coming Young Singer" and a "WFUV-FM New Artist To Watch". In 2008, he released two, critically-acclaimed albums and was a Folk Alliance "Emerging Artist of the Year" nominee. In 2007, at 16, he became the youngest winner ever at the Falcon Ridge and Kerrville Folk Festivals.
Jordan White

Jordan White returns home during the first annual Bike Fest in Nazareth to cap the day's events with a show at the Center. His music is alternative, acoustic-confessional, progressive rock influenced by artists such as Jackson Browne, Guns N' Roses, Counting Crows, Van Morrison, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Ritchie Valens and The Clash. White was a 2007 finalist in the Lehigh Valley Acoustic Competition, and in August 2010, was nominated for three 2010 Lehigh Valley Music Awards for Best Songwriter, Best Lyricist, and Best Band Website, being chosen amongst 3,000 other fan and industry nominees.

Mike McLaughlin, touring to promote his new CD being released in September, visits the Center for the first time. His music draws from country to rock to folk and blues. Says Mike, "I have been taught by listening to some of the greats like Dylan, Clapton, Harrison, Petty, to all the southern Rock boys…you name it I’m there student. I in no way can compare my talent to greats such as this, but I have learned a great deal from these people and from the musicians I have encountered over the years of playing.
