Nazareth Area High School wins District 11 Class AAAA first-round game by routing Stroudsburg

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Going against its season-long frustration from the free throw line, Nazareth Area High School's boys basketball team was nearly perfect from the charity stripe in its District 11 Class AAAA first round game against Stroudsburg.

The Blue Eagles made all but three of their 24 foul shot attempts in a program that was 10th in Lehigh Valley Conference in that department on the way to an easy 62-41 win over the Mounties at Nazareth High School.

Brandon Kline scored a career-high 14 points, including 8-for-8 from the foul line, to spearhead the win. Chuck Dibilio led Nazareth with 18 points and nine rebounds while Drew Hercik added 10 points.

Tom Fabian led Stroudsburg, which finished its season 11-13, with 13 points.

No. 6 seed Nazareth (20-5), which won 20 games for the second straight season, now travels to No. 3 seed and Schuylkill League champion Pottsville (23-1) 7 p.m. Saturday in Minersville, Pa.

"I was just happy to get more balance in our offense," Nazareth coach Joe Arndt said. "It was a good team effort. Chuck (Dibilio) is going to score his points but we got contributions from Kliney, Drew Hercik (10 points) and some other guys, too."

Nazareth took just three shots from the field in the second quarter but went 11-for-12 from the foul line to take a 10-point (29-19) lead at halftime.
