Looks like Becahi is close to having a new coach

FROM KEITH GROLLER

To answer one of the questions we are getting here at Groller's Corner, several sources are indicating that Emmaus' defensive coordinator Joe Henrich is about to be named the new head coach at Bethlehem Catholic.

We have yet to hear that from the school itself, however. In fact, Becahi athletic director Mike Grasso called the office on Thursday night to say that no decision about the coaching position had been made. I did not speak with Grasso personally, but he spoke to a colleague, and said a final decision would be made next week.

If it turns out to be Henrich, it would not be the high-profile hire that many thought the Golden Hawks would go after to replace Mike Palos, and we heard a lot of household local names went after the position. Becahi, coming off a 2-8 season, is certainly taking its time with this decision.

Palos was removed as head coach more than two months ago on Dec. 2.

Henrich's stock as a head coach candidate improved thanks to an Emmaus defense that played well last year, getting a lot of turnovers that kept the team in games.

The Green Hornets allowed just 14.8 points per game -- only Central really did damage with 38 points -- in going 8-4 and winning the Eastern Conference title.
