Justin Pacchioli will play baseball for Nazareth Area High School

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Justin Pacchioli, a two-sport star at Easton Area High School who led the football team at quarterback, has enrolled at rival Nazareth Area High School and is working out with the baseball team, sources said.

Easton Area athletic director Jim Pokrivsak confirmed today that Pacchioli is no longer a student or a baseball player at Easton.

Pacchioli, a senior, was an Express-Times All-Area first team selection in football last fall and in baseball last spring. He started three seasons in football and two seasons in baseball for the Red Rovers.

As a quarterback, Pacchioli shattered school passing records for career yardage (3,815), completions (286), attempts (524) and touchdowns (37).

In baseball as a junior, the all-Lehigh Valley Conference catcher batted a school-record .519 with six triples, five home runs, 23 RBIs and 29 stolen bases. He has a strong arm and excellent speed.

Pacchioli, who previously said he wants to stay close to home during college, verbally committed last summer to play baseball at Lehigh University. He signed a letter of intent to attend Lehigh a few weeks ago, said a source with knowledge of the signing.

Pacchioli has not returned calls seeking comment on his transfer.

Sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity said Pacchioli has moved into the Nazareth Area School District.

Nazareth baseball coach Jon Lock said last month that he wouldn't know who was definitely going out for the team until the first day of tryouts on March 7.
