Easton native new IronPigs radio host

FROM THE MORNING CALL

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs have named Nick Parson as the new media relations assistant and Easton's Michael Ventola as the new studio host for the IronPigs Radio Network.

Ventola, a Easton High School and Immaculata (Pa.) University graduate, previously served as an intern for Reading Phillies' Director of Media Relations Tommy Viola, who formerly worked in the same capacity that Ventola steps into with the IronPigs. While at Immaculata, the 22-year-old spent time as the play-by-play announcer for the school's athletics program, as well as the public address announcer for various athletic events. He also interned with the Augusta GreenJackets of the South Atlantic League (Single-A) and for the Danny Bonaduce Show on 94 WYSP in Philadelphia. Locally, he has been a consistent contributor on the "Jack, Joe & Company" sports talk show on WGPA Sunny 1100 AM.

Ventola replaces Robbie Aaron, who was hired as the director of media relations & broadcasting for the Daytona Cubs of the Florida State League (Advanced-A).

Parson, a native of Portland, Maine, arrives in the Lehigh Valley after stints with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League and the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League (Single-A). Parson, 24, graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., in 2008 with a degree in political science and African studies. Prior to entering professional baseball, Parson was a drummer for various music acts and has served on the National Ski Patrol. He is also the president of the Harry M. Stevens Family Foundation, a non-profit private foundation that provides funding for organizations dedicated to preserving the history of baseball.
