Chuck Dibilio Picks Princeton

FROM THE MORNING CALL

Nazareth running back Chuck Dibilio had been linked to Princeton for several months.

He will officially become a Tiger next week when the signing period for football opens Wednesday, Feb. 2.

Dibilio Blue Eagles coach Rob Melosky confirmed Wednesday afternoon that Dibilio recently gave an oral commitment to Princeton.

“When you’ve got an Ivy League school like Princeton recruiting you, it’s pretty tough to say no to,” Melosky said by phone. “He was really waiting to hear from them in terms of their admissions department. The Ivy League is a different deal. They cross all their Ts and dot all there Is.

“All along that’s where he really wanted to go. Even if he would have been offered a scholarship, it would have been tough to turn down the package Princeton put together. The most important thing we’re proud about is this is the second year in a row we sent a kid to an Ivy League program [Danny Wilk is currently at Penn]. That’s kind of what we’re trying to get done at Nazareth. The academic end is important to is. We’re proud that Chuck is going to get to play in the Ivy League.”

Dibilio was the Lehigh Valley Conference's offensive MVP during the fall and helped the Blue Eagles reach the District 11 Class 4A semifinals. He ran for 2,050 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior and finished his career with school records of 4,366 rushing yards, 4,902 all-purpose yards, 21 100-yard rushing games and 57 touchdowns.

The Morning Call selected Dibilio as a first-team all-area running back. He also was a second-team pick for the 2010 Pennsylvania Sportswriters Class 4A All-State Football Team.
