Fire tears through Bushkill Township house

FROM THE MORNING CALL

Firefighters are continuing to work on a fire that burned through the roof of a two-story house off Jacobsburg Road in Bushkill Township Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 108 Kline Lane, a dirt lane off Jacobsburg Road between Sexton and State Park roads, around 8:20 a.m. The area is just south of Wind Gap.

As of about 10:30 a.m., a few firefighters could be seen through windows inside the house trying to combat heavy smoke conditions and an occasional flare up while more than dozen firefighters stood outside in front of the house.

The heaviest fire damage appeared to be too the roof around a chimney in the center of the home. The fire burned through and destroyed sections of the roof and second floor, and the first floor had heavy water damage.

There were no reports of injuries, according to the Northampton County Communications Center.

A woman carrying a dog said she lived in the home, but declined to identify herself. She and another woman carrying another dog removed the animals from a vehicle parked near the house an carried them to a house next door.

Bushkill Township Fire Department provided no information at the scene about the fire.

Northampton County tax records list the owner of 108 Kline Lane as Randy Schoeneberger.

Several fire departments from the Nazareth area responded to the call with Bushkill Township Fire Department, which provided no information about the fire at the scene.

Because of its remote location, firefighters used tanker trucks to bring water to the scene using rural roads, which became icy from dripping water from the tankers.
