A Pennsylvania grand jury has recommended criminal charges against suspected members of a methamphetamine ring that manufactured and distributed the drug in Northampton and Monroe counties, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office.
The ring has distributed about 12 pounds of meth worth about $1 million in the region since April 2009, the release says.
According to records, charged are: Steven Reyes, 36, address unknown; Bradford Maynard, 55, and Audra Maynard, 41, both of the 4300 block of North Delaware Drive in Forks Township; Scott Keet, 42, of the 700 block of North Summit Road in Moore Township; Evan Schatzman, 45, of the 4400 block of Richmond Road in Forks Township; Terra Vermilya, 38, who is in Northampton County Prison; Sonny Decastro, 38, also in Northampton County Prison; Karli Kauffmann, 23, of the first block of South Broad Street in Nazareth; Kelly Biechy, 39, of the 500 block of Batts Switch Road in Plainfield Township; Martin Derr, 41, of East Stroudsburg; Dorothy Dobes, 53, of the 300 block of Fairview Avenue in Wind Gap.
Officials said the members cooked meth in their bathrooms, hotel rooms and water bottles in their car.
Searches done by agents uncovered six meth labs that contained instruction manuals, sulfuric acid, drain cleaner, lithium batteries, pseudoephedrine, antifreeze, camp fuel and other production items, the release said.
The case will be prosecuted in Northampton County, the release said.
Along with state agents, police departments in Forks, Plainfield, Bushkill and Bethlehem townships and the Colonial Regional Police Department assisted in the investigation.
