FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES
Lehigh University's three freshmen acquitted themselves well in their intercollegiate debut at Leeman-Turner Arena in Grace Hall as their trio of wins helped fuel a 45-0 demolition of visiting Drexel University in a non-league match.
Freshman Austin Meys made the biggest splash of his class at 174 pounds when he used a ferocious half-nelson to pin Northampton Area High School graduate Justin Wieller, a senior, in 4 minutes, 37 seconds.
Mountain Hawk frosh Frank Cagnina crushed Dragon junior Frank Cimato 16-4 at 133 pounds while classmate Stephen Dutton dominated Northampton alum Josh Yurasits in a technical fall in 5:27.
Drexel's other two area products also fell, with freshman Austin Sommer dropping a controversial 3-2 loss to Lehigh sophomore Joey Napoli at 149 pounds while Saucon Valley graduate Brandon Palik, a Drexel frosh, fell 3-1 to No. 12-ranked Joe Kennedy at 197.
In the only meeting of ranked wrestlers, Lehigh's Brandon Hatchett, No. 8 at 165, handled No. 20 Joe Booth 9-2.
