Tom McCarthy will guest on "Calling All Sports" on Saturday morning

Phillies broadcaster Tom McCarthy will join us during Saturday morning's "Calling All Sports" radio show. The show is heard from 9-11 on AM-1470 the Fox. It can also be heard online at fox1470.com.

McCarthy will be on around 10:15 a.m.

We're glad to have him. It's a great guy.

Maybe he can explain this one tonight in Philly where the Reds were in command 4-0 and then just completely collapsed.

They lost the ball in the lights, lost the game, and probably lost the series.

I don't see this thing coming back here from Cincy, not with Halladay set to close it out on Monday, assuming the Reds can find a way to beat Cole Hamels on Sunday.

I guess the Rays and Twins feel about as miserable as the Reds, maybe worse considering they both went 0-2 at home.

But you talk about two frustrating losses.

In Game 1 you get no-hitted and in Game 2, your Gold Glove fielders forget how to catch the ball.

Give the Phillies credit, though. They just don't go away.

They work every at-bat, they scrap and scrape and keep plugging away until you find a way to get 27 outs.

The Reds gave them about 33 to work with tonight and when the Reds weren't in giveaway mode, the umps wouldn't cut them slack either. Terrible, terrible call on Utley. It's really is time, past time, for baseball to use instant replay.

Would it have changed the course of the game? Maybe.

But make no mistake, the Phillies are the best team and are on their back to the NLCS. That would begin a week from Saturday here.

As I type away at the ballpark here late Friday night/early Saturday morning I see the Braves came back to tie the Giants at 4-4 and they're in extra innings. No matter what happens tonight, I see the Giants coming out of that series and expect them to be here for the start of the NLCS in a week.

The Giants will be tough, but after what we've seen this week -- and really, what we've seen now for three years down here -- I wouldn't bet against the Phillies.
