Sports mascot training camp coming to Moravian College

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Mascots will convene at Moravian College at the end of the month to hone their character development and show off their performance skills at a football game halftime show.

The large furry creatures will run through drills during the two-day training camp, which will be attended by high school, college, corporate and professional sports mascots, according to a news release from the college.

The mascots descend on Bethlehem on Oct. 29 and 30 to learn performance tricks as well as cooperative skills and costume care. Erin Blank, former mascot for the Detroit Tigers, the Washington Capitals and founder of Keystone Mascots will provide instruction, with help from Moravian College's Amos the Greyhound, the 2010 SportsTalkNY Mascot Madness Champion and his "DawgPack" performance team.

All campers will get a DVD of their drills and performances, a take-home manual and a skit they can take home for performances and pep rallies. The graduation performance will be at the halftime show of Moravian's football game for the NCAA "Take a Kid to the Game" Day event on Oct. 30.
