Lehigh University football team beats Bucknell University 32-10

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Lehigh University sophomore Ryan Spadola caught three touchdowns as the Mountain Hawks opened up Patriot League play with a 32-10 victory over Bucknell University at Goodman Stadium.

Spadola had 111 yards on six receptions and three scores. He had TD catches of 14, 14 and 32 yards.

Lehigh, currently on a three-game win streak, improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the league, while Bucknell dropped to 1-6 overall and 1-1 in the PL.

Lehigh junior quarterback Chris Lum was 19-for-33 for 269 yards, finding six different receivers. Spadola and Craig Zurn (6 catches for 51 yards) were his favorite targets.

"Passing game was clicking," Lehigh coach Andy Coen said. "We knew we’d be a pass-first attack against these guys, utilize our strengths where we matched up better."

Senior running back Jay Campbell had 80 yards on 15 carries as Lehigh totaled 181 yards on the ground. Zach Barket added 51 yards and a 9-yard touchdown in the second quarter as Lehigh built a 23-7 lead at the break.

Travis Friend's 3-yard TD run put the Bison on the board in the second quarter.

Lehigh hosts Colgate next Saturday in the Mountain Hawks' home finale of 2010.
