KEITH GROLLER'S NFL PICKS

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Had the day off on Saturday, and visited one of those Pumpkin festivals with my wife, youngest daughter, and my granddaughter. This one was at the Country Junction up on Route 209 between Lehighton and Pleasant Valley High School.

Nice time. Nice place, especially if you have little kids.

Didn't see a single Eagles or Redskins jersey. No Number 5s either.

But I will see a few today, I suspect. I hear there's a game in South Philly today. And someone who used to play for the home team is coming back to play them as a member of another team.

You would have had to be on another planet this week to not know what's going on. Actually, the Vick vs. McNabb game is probably being written about on Mars this week, too.

I will be at the game, observing what should be just as much of a soap opera, religious experience and societal study as it will be a football game.

To boo or not to boo, that's the question. It's plastered all over the cover of today's Morning Call and all over the homepage of mcall.com. It was the first topic on ESPN's "SportsReporters" show.

C'mon, it's Philly. You know some are gonna boo. It's in the DNA.

Hopefully, no boos for my NFL picks.

Last week, I did the picks in the wee hours of Saturday morning and was half asleep. I was so tired that I actually forgot one game -- the Seattle/San Diego game.

But being in a fog is the only explanation I can muster for having my best week in a long time -- going 10-5 outright and 10-5 against the spread.

Just to prove that it was actually me still doing the picks, I was 4-11 on the over/under numbers.

But my season totals are now 23-21-3 against the spread, 26-21 outright, and 23-23-1 on the over/under totals.

Unfortunately, I am doing these picks well-rested, which, as Rico knows, means trouble because I am more clear-headed and more likely to think too much and get them wrong.

Here we go (home teams in caps):

TENNESSEE (-6.5) 24, Denver 14 -- Under the over/under of 43.5

Baltimore (+2.5) 21, PITTSBURGH 16 -- Over the over/under of 34

GREEN BAY (-14.5) 28, Detroit 17 -- Under the over/under of 45.5
