Lafayette College doesn't get much going in 35-10 loss to Harvard University

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Even though Lafayette College entered today's Harvard game with a 0-3 record, the Leopards could take some positives from of each of those games, all close losses.

Not this one.

The Crimson had its way in every aspect of the game at Fisher Stadium and rolled to a 35-10 win.

The Leopards stand at 0-4 for the first time in coach Frank Tavani's 11 seasons and the first time since 1998. Tavani is now 1-9 against Harvard in his career. It was the Leopards' worst loss since a 52-21 loss to Penn on Sept. 21, 2002.

Harvard used a combination of big plays and an effective running game (311 yards) to dominate with the ball.

The Leopards hurt themselves with 10 penalties for 109 yards and shaky kickoff coverage that helped the Crimson (2-1) gain good field position.

Defensively, Harvard kept Lafayette away from the big deal and kept relentless pressure on quarterback Ryan O'Neil. O'Neil was sacked five times while throwing for 210 yards on 27-for-42 passing.

Lafayette's only touchdown came with 4:58 to play when backup sophomore quarterback Andrew Shoop found freshman Greg Kessel (from East Stroudsburg South) on an 18-yard pass.
