Northwestern University announced that former Liberty High School standout Dan Persa has been added to the Manning Award watch list for his play the first half of the season.
Persa, a junior, leads all of Division I in completion percentage (75.7) and is also in the top ten in other passing categories. The quarterback also leads the Wildcats with 341 yards and six rushing touchdowns.
A panel will whittle the list down to ten finalists on November 29 and a winner will be announced on January 19.
Northwestern is 5-2 heading into a Saturday game at Indiana. Persa and the Tigers face off against Joe Paterno and Penn State at Beaver Stadium the following weekend.
