At least one dead in fiery I-78 crash

At least one person has been killed in a crash on eastbound Interstate 78 Thursday morning involving two tractor-trailers and a car.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. about two miles west of Hellertown in Lower Saucon Township Thursday morning. All eastbound lanes are currenty closed at Exit 60 (Route 309 South).

A huge plume of black smoke can be seen on traffic cameras shortly after the accident occurred. As of 8 a.m., emergency workers continued to respond to the scene, according to police radio reports.



Eastbound traffic should exit off Interstate 78 east at Route 309 South, get off at Route 378 and proceed to Route 22 East as an alternate route if possible to avoid delays.
