Big Inning Keeps Spring City Alive

FROM THE PA LEGION WEBSITE

Another day, same story for the host West Lawn Owls. For the second straight day, they had a state champion on the ropes but surrendered a huge inning and ended up dropping the game. Last night it was against Virginia champion Chesapeake, today, it's familiar foe Spring City.

The Owls led 8-4 heading into the bottom of the eighth. Timely hits, a few walks and wild pitches led to a six run rally by the Red Sox. Another stunning reversal of fortune was more than the Berks County natives could handle, as they went quietly into the offseason with an uneventful ninth frame. Final score: Spring City 10, West Lawn 8.

The win propels Spring City into the tournament's third day, where they will play the the loser of Newark, DE and Salisbury, MD at 12:30pm in game nine.
