Nazareth built a 9-4 lead through five innings of their American Legion Region 2 baseball game against Pennridge but could not close out the game as they fell 11-10 for their first loss in the double-elimination tournament.
Drew Hercik keyed a six-run second inning for Nazareth by driving in three runs with a bases-loaded triple.
Pennridge rallied to take an 11-9 lead with two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings and a trio of runs in the eighth. Karl Keglovits slugged a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning but Nazareth could not come up with the equalizer.
Nazareth will now face Twin Valley, a 10-7 loser to North Parkland, at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday at West Lawn.
