The Philadelphia 76ers have selected Ohio State shooting guard Evan Turner with the No. 2 overall pick of the NBA draft.
Turner, the Associated Press Player of the Year, averaged 20.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists while leading the Buckeyes into the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament.
The 21-year-old Turner -- 6-foot-7, 210 pounds -- left Ohio State after his junior year and is considered one of the most NBA-ready players in the draft.
The Washington Wizards, as expected, selected Kentucky's John Wall with the No. 1 pick.
The SEC player of the year is the first Kentucky player ever chosen first overall. He goes to a Washington team hoping to quickly bounce back after a disastrous season that included Gilbert Arenas' season-ending suspension for bringing guns into the team locker room.
Opting for a player with a big upside, great athleticism and the potential to develop into the next Dwight Howard, the New Jersey Nets selected Derrick Favors with the third pick.
Favors averaged 12.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in his freshman year at Georgia Tech.
Just 18, he was the youngest American in the draft.
