IronPigs win first series of year by capturing finale against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

Brandon Duckworth pitched four innings of one-run baseball after starter Nate Bump was struck on his pitching elbow by a line drive, helping the Lehigh Valley IronPigs earn a 4-1 Father's Day victory over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before 9,915 at Coca-Cola Park.

John Mayberry Jr. delivered a key two-run single during Lehigh Valley’s three-run sixth inning, while Rich Thompson, who went 3-for-5 opened the scoring two innings earlier with a two-out single.

The Yankees’ Eduardo Nunez struck Bump with a line drive after one out in the fourth inning. The righthander Bump was forced to leave the game; the extent of his injury was not immediately known.

Duckworth (2-2) surrendered three hits, including Reegie Corona’s fourth home run leading off the eighth inning. Michael Stutes and Mike Zagurski pitched the final 1-2/3 innings, with Zagurski earning his second save in three nights by getting the final two outs.

The IronPigs (28-41) took three of four from the Yankees (39-31), winning their first series this season. Lehigh Valley opens a four-game series at the Norfolk Tides on Monday.
