Five Lehigh Valley kids will participate in New Jersey-Northeast All-Star Football Classic at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway. The game can be seen on New York's MY9 (Channel 9).
Local standouts include Parkland's Boston College-bound tailback Andre Williams, and his former Trojans teammates Matt Haugh and Adam Gristick.
The six-foot, 210-pound Williams was The Morning Call player of the year after scoring 33 touchdowns and rushing for more than 1,900 yards.
The 6-1, 215-pound Haugh, a linebacker, is headed to Lafayette. The 6-1, 210-pound Gristick, another linbebacker, is going to Eastern Illinois.

Liberty's Jarrod West, the 6-4, 195-pound wide receiver is also in the game. West was a Stanford recruit, but will attend prep school and re-evaluate his scholarship opportunities. (West is in the middle photo)
Rounding out the local contingent will be Whitehall's Taray Carey (pictured below). The 6-5, 210-pound linebacker is headed to Temple.
The 2010 game will be the 13th edition of this annual event. The game was conceived in 1998 and ran until 2008 as the Governor’s Bowl and the New York-New Jersey All-Star Classic. In 2009, the New Jersey Football Coaches Association took full control of the event and broadened its reach to include the entire Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Region of the United States. Players from both New Jersey and the Northeast team are selected by the New Jersey Football Coaches Association, recruiting analysts, and coaches from around the region. The Northeast team is made up of players and coaches from Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware, Eastern Pa., New York, Connecticut, and New Hampshire.
Former players in the game include Super Bowl hero and New York Giant David Tyree, Rutgers Star and current Baltimore Raven Ray Rice, 2009 Denver Bronco first round draft pick Knowshawn Moreno, and Will Hill at the University of Florida who participated on the 2009 NCAA National Championship Team for the Florida Gators.
