Northern Lehigh grad gets a Jersey boys basketball coaching job

– April 21, 2010 - The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Board of Education named Kyle Rehrig as the new head boy’s basketball coach at North Hunterdon High School. The decision was made at last Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, April 20, 2010.
"The administrative team has conducted a comprehensive endeavor to find a good candidate as our school’s head basketball coach. Coach Rehrig has the knowledge, attitude, educational background and is an encouraging role model to provide a positive basketball experience for our student athletes at North Hunterdon High School," said John Deutsch, Director of Athletics of North Hunterdon High School.

"I am extremely excited about the chance to be the head basketball coach at North Hunterdon High School. The kids are hard working and have a desire to succeed both on and off the court. I hope that I can help them thrive on and off the court with my enthusiasm, energy, and work ethic. My goal is to continue to improve the way we have recently and create winning mentality and tradition at North," said Rehrig.

Mr. Rehrig has eight years experience coaching boys’ basketball on the high school level as a head and assistant coach. Kyle played at Northern Lehigh High School as a four year varsity basketball player and three year starter. Kyle has over 10 years experience as a head and assistant Girl’s\Boy’s basketball coach. Kyle was a head Girl’s Basketball coach at Manville High School. Kyle was an assistant basketball coach at North Hunterdon, Montgomery, Ridge and Notre Dame High School’s.

Mr. Rehrig will continue in his position as a computer teacher at Tewksbury Elementary School. Mr. Rehrig’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and

Elementary Education at Moravian University. Mr. Rehrig also holds a Master’s Degree in reading and Literacy from Walden University. Mr. Rehrig is currently working towards his Teacher of the Handicapped Certificate from the State of New Jersey.
"Coach Rehrig’s coaching experience in several New Jersey high schools; including his experience at Montgomery, Manville, Ridge, Notre Dame and our own North Hunterdon High School, make him a great choice and role model for our student-athletes. We had a great deal of interest in the position and we are pleased that Coach Rehrig has accepted the job. We are excited about the future of North Hunterdon basketball," said Michael Hughes, Principal of North Hunterdon High School.

Our district is comprised of North Hunterdon High School located in Annandale, NJ and Voorhees High School in Glen Gardner, NJ. All together we educate over 3,100 students from 12 different municipalities, making us the largest high school district in Hunterdon County. We also have the largest Board of Education in the state with 13 members, who each have a weighted vote.

Our high schools are nationally ranked amongst the best public high schools in the country
