Dianne Nolan, who has more than 500 victories in 33 years as a head coach, was introduced today as the new women's basketball coach at Lafayette.
Nolan compiled a 517-416 record as the head coach at St. Francis (1975-79) and Fairfield University (1980-2007). She won 456 games in 28 years at Fairfield, took the team to four NCAA tournaments and won five Metro Athletic Conference titles.
For the last three seasons, Nolan has been as assistant coach at Yale.
"Dianne Nolan has unparalleled passion for the game is and someone who has devoted her life to the sport of basketball," Lafayette athletic director Bruce McCutcheon said in a statement. "She brings a high energy level, tireless work ethic and a set of values that emulates those of Lafayette College. Dianne is a proven educator and coach who knows Lafayette and believes in what we are trying to accomplish here. We are fortunate to be able to bring an individual of her character and basketball resume to College Hill."
Nolan replaces Tammy Smith, whose nine-year tenure ended after last season.
