Kolb ready, excited for starting QB chance

Kevin Kolb is 25 years old and has not been promoted as the Eagles' starting quarterback where the expectations and pressure are immense.

But the Texas native doesn't appear to have a nervous bone in his body as he and the Eagles move forward, the day after veteran Donovan McNabb was traded to the Washington Redskins.

"I didn’t even blink when [Eagles coach] Andy [Reid] told me," Kolb said in his press conference a litlte while ago at the NovaCare Complex.

" I’m excited about it," he said. "I’m sure it will add a little bit of drama, but this is exciting. Adds a new outlook."

Last season, Kolb was 62 of 96 for 741 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions. He had back-to-back 300-yard games against eventual Super Bowl champion New Orleans and Kansas City to become the first NFL player to pass for 300 yard games in consecutive games as a starter.

Now, barring injury or major inconsistency, he'll get his chance to start at least 16 games next season and he appeared calm and confident about the opportunity.

"There were times last year where I thougth I was ready, but the team wasn’t ready, maybe the city wasn’t ready,” Kolb said.

Kolb has been working out hard at the NovaCare Complex and plans to keep pushing himself.

“Nobody is ever going to outwork me,” he said.
