EASTON GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH RESIGNS

According to Easton Area High School athletic director Jim Pokrivsak, girls basketball coach Jerald Brown has stepped down.

Brown coached the Red Rovers to a 13-10 record and a berth in the District 11 Class AAAA playoffs in his first and only season at the school. Easton lost 53-42 to Liberty in the quarterfinals.
"It's a big loss to the Easton girls basketball program because he brought a lot of excitement, got the program going and got us into the playoffs," Pokrivsak said. "He had a lot of positive things going on."

Brown, who starred at Texas A&M and played professional basketball overseas for six years, said he is headed back home to Texas because his job as director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the Lehigh Valley was being eliminated and he accepted the same position in Houston.

He admitted the move is bittersweet, but will be happy to be closer to his relatives and his mother.

"I've been here for seven years and built a lot of great relationships in the valley and it's been really good to me and my family so I'm going to miss a lot of those relationships, especially Easton," Brown said. "Those girls have a real special place in my heart, they were my first true team. They gave me all that I asked for."

Pokrivsak said the school will go through the regular process of finding a replacement and interviewing candidates and hopes to have the process finalized within the next month or so.
