Cement Industry Lobbies To Change Bidding

A meeting of the PA House Transportation Committee took place at Essroc last week according to an article in the Express-Times.

Cement industry representatives urged House members to remove a clause that allows asphalt companies to bid when prices are low and then raise the price of the project after winning the bids. The reason they can raise the bids is because asphalt is based on crude oil prices and they fluctuate.

Cement prices are constant and as a result they can not change their prices once the bids are submitted.
