LIBRARY DIGITAL PROJECT UPDATE!

Additional years of the Nazareth Item a local paper have been digitized. This ongoing project was grant funded in 2009. A $5,000 DCED grant sponsored by Rep. Richard Grucela and a $10,000 grant from the Praxair Foundation to support the digitization of years 1924 to 1940. The collection now covers 1891-1940. Click on the “Library Digital Collection” link on our webpage at www.nazarethlibrary.org for access. The collection is maintained at no cost to the library by the Pennsylvania Digital Repository. The Library was pleased to learn that the Repository program was not eliminated in last year’s state budget cuts.

HELP FOR ADULTS WRITING RESUMES, JOB SEARCHING OR GOING BACK TO SCHOOL

Career Help PA offers adults, one-to-one help from certified tutors and career specialists online. Community members with a library card can access the new online services from the library or right from home. Program includes live, career help including writing a resume, searching for a job or preparing for an interview. Adults may also connect to a tutor for help with school work, preparing for the GED, or the citizenship test. The service is available seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The service is completely free for our community thanks to a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
