Emmaus Basketball

From Keith Groller

We'll have more on this later here and in the paper, but Emmaus defeated Pocono Mountain West 60-52 today in a nonleague boys basketball game at Emmaus.

The win ended Pocono West's 10-game win streak.

Emmaus used a 14-2 run in the fourth quarter to turn a 41-39 deficit into a 53-43 lead and put the game away from there.

Junior Tynell Fortune put on a show for West with 20 points, five assists, five rebounds and three steals. He could be the MVC's next big star, if he's not already.

Emmaus had balance, led by Anthony Palencar's 16 and sophomore Greg Bobal's 15. Matt Wiseley and Bobby Campbell added 11 and 10 respectively.

Nice win for Emmaus, which has now won three of its last four to get back to 7-7 with eight games left.

Since they've also beaten Nazareth and Whitehall this season, they have proven they can beat anybody. Just have to show they can do it.

Pocono West, which had a long bus ride after beating on Stroudsburg on Friday night, fell to 12-3.
