EASTON WRESTLING IN RENO

The Easton Area High School wrestling team advanced six wrestlers into Saturday's quarterfinal round at the Reno Tournament of Champions.

Freshman Evan Disora at 103, sophomore Mitch Minotti at 130, junior Joey Rizzolino at 135, senior Mark Hartenstine at 140, junior Anthony Minotti at 145 and junior Zach Bambary at 160 each advanced through the first three rounds for the Red Rovers.

Easton will begin the day tied with Poway High School of California for first place in the team standings with 87½ points. The Red Rovers are aiming for their eighth team title in the tournament's 15-year existence.

Disora earned a bye before recording a 29 second fall over Knute Tuhus of Reed and a 7-3 decision over Brandon Rodriguez of Clovis West.

Mitch Minotti, the third seed, won a 12-0 major decision over Jave Cruz of Sunnyside, pinned Derek DuPont of Alamosa in 4:23, and earned a 4-0 triumph over Skyler Moore of East Ancht.

The third seeded Rizzolino won 4-0 over Austin Martin of Douglas, 8-6 over Nick Schlager of Carson City and recorded a 20-5 technical fall over Kenny Nez of Demonte Beach in 3:05.

Hartenstine, the top seed, received a first round bye then pinned Casey Rubinoff of Pleasant Valley in 33 seconds before decking Dakoda Curtis of Alamoda in 2:59.

Anthony Minotti posted a fall in 3:26 against Cody Rife of Grundy, pinned Chris Romero of Carlsbad in 1:49, and escaped with a 5-4 win over Luke Shelley of South Anchorage.

Bambary also received a first round bye. He proceeded to pin Tyler Hammerness of Modoc in 3:09 and registered an 18-5 major decision over Anthony Cress of Antoch.

Hartenstine, who won the tournament championship as a sophomore, is the only current Easton wrestler to win a title at Reno.
