2008 JERRY LEWIS TELETHON

The Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Labor Day Telethon kicked off Sunday at 9 p.m. at the Mall at Steamtown in downtown Scranton.

Dozens of volunteers, members of Newswatch 16 and plenty of visitors will be on hand to help raise money for the MDA.

A portion of all money raised in our area stays in our area. Last year more than $571,930 was raised to help those with neuromuscular disease.

Join the fun at the Mall at Steamtown through Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. and help fight the disease that afflicts so many young people every year.

If you can't make it to the mall, watch the MDA Telethon live on WNEP-TV.

To make a donation, please call 570-961-7520 or 1-800-522-1745.

Volunteers will be standing by to take your pledge.
