Where Miracles can happen!!!!!!!
Kids in wheelchairs playing Baseball!!!!!!!!
Even with their Disability!!!!!!!!
I am a proud supporter of this!!!!!!!!!
Please check this website out:
http://www.miracleleague.com/
It called te ''Miracle league''
We might be handicap and in wheelchairs all our lives and can't walk but that don't stop these kids from playing in sports.
When my parents take me out to places, people look at me like I am a creep or something because I am in a wheelchair.
Some people just don't take time to realize that we are normal people too like everybody that does not have problems.
I don't let people bother me when they look at me when I am at places with my mom and dad.
If I were to tell you about an
organized youth baseball league,
You might call it ordinary.
If I were to tell you the athletes are
physically and mentally challenged
You might call it touching
If you were to see them play you would call it a Miracle
In 1997 Rockdale Youth Baseball Association’s coach Eddie Bagwell invited the first disabled child Michael to play baseball on his team; Michael a 7 year old child in a wheel chair attended every game and practice, while cheering on his 5 year old brother play America’s favorite pass-time.
And in 1998, the Rockdale Youth Baseball Association (RYBA) formed the Miracle League to further its mission of providing opportunities for all children to play baseball regardless of their ability. The disabled children in the community had expressed the desire to dress in uniforms, make plays in the field, and round the bases just like their healthy peers. The league began with 35 players on four teams.
“Buddies” assist Miracle League player. These buddies are mainstream children who play baseball, youth church groups, boys and girls scouts to mention a few. As a result, the parents, children and volunteers are all brought together – special needs and mainstream alike-in a program, which serves them all through service to children with special needs. The program is opened to children from any community and, until December 1, 2001 was one of a kind.
The Miracle League has received local and national media attention. The league has been chronicled in the local newspaper, televised locally on NBC, ABC, Connecting With Kids and FOX, Atlanta affiliates and nationally on CNN, MSNBC and Fox Sports. In July 2001, the league was profiled on a segment of HBO’s Real Sports. Articles profiling the league appeared in People, Family Circle and Rotary International magazines, and Paula Deen. In January 2002 two men from the Miracle League were awarded the Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award and on January 24th PAX TV’s “It A Miracle” told the story of Conyers Miracle League Player Lauren Gunder. February 2002 the Miracle League Players were featured in Rotary Internationals’ PSA, chosen out of 500 applicants. Winter of 2002 the Miracle League again was profiled in the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine. January of 2002 won the 11ALIVE TV Community Service Award and June of 2002 took the Jefferson Award, The American Institute for Public Services, founded by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Senator Robert Taft, Jr. One of the greatest achievements was being inducted to The Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006. The publicity from these media events, coupled with positive word of mouth, raises awareness among the families of children with special needs and allows the Miracle League Association to take the program across the country
Presently there are 200 Miracle League Organizations across the country including Puerto Rico, 100 completed rubberized fields, and 100 fields under construction. The Miracle League is proud to serve over 80,000 children and young adults with disabilities.
Our immediate goal of 500 plus Miracle League fields including several international locations will serve approximately 1.3 million children. This goal is being realized with the help of communities, volunteers, parents, donators, individual sponsors, and corporate sponsors. This program will be offered to every city in the country so children with special needs around the globe will have this same opportunity. The Miracle League believes;
“Every Child Deserves A Chance to Play Baseball.”
I thought this was pretty cool.
I thought I would share this with all of you today.
It just goes to show, because we are in a wheelchair does not mean we can't do normal things.
Please Take Care of yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday June 16, 2008 Bad Weekend for me. I kept dropping things out of my hand. I had the droppies all weekend. Sunday morning My dad took me to the Casinos! Mt. Airy Casinos! When we got there the parking lot was empty. They lossed power Saturday night in the casinos. Bad Storms. We had to wait from 10am to noon. They opened at NOON. Luckily Keith Groller was on the radio from 10am to noon so we had something to listen to while sitting in the parking lot. We got WEEX AM 1230 All the way in the poconos!!!!! Keith will be happy to hear that! Did not win nothing though. We woke up real early to go! It was a fun time playing the slot machines! It was very busy up there. Lots of people there. Was home by 2:00pm! I had to be back by 2:00pm to announce the Phillies Baseball Game on CW57! Another Year on the Andy Weaver E-Mail Network comming to a end. I want to work with Kids
Any Level
I really miss it and I realy want to get back into it!
I know I graduated with a Accounting Degree but do you really see somebody like me sitting behind a desk from 8am to 5pm?
I am a people person and needs to be helping kids somewhere!!!!
My personality don't fit too well behind a desk all day.
M Counselor From Allentown agrees with me!
I am going to be taking State Civil Service tests soon!
When I was a student at HGA, I Was part of the recreation staff helping students at nightime and I really enjoyed that.
Working with kids is a great thing and gives you a great feelin inside!!!!!
Many Staff Members even told me about talking to Mr Rullman about a job at HGA.
My Only fear with that is I know many students and if one of them get in trouble and I would have to write them up, i would lose them as a friend.
My Job does come before Friendship however. If Mr Rullman and Adminstration would offer something, I would take it because I have to worry about My job before Friendship.

11 Days until I see Governor ED RENDELL!
June 24th at 11am live on PCN!
Anything you want me to tell him?
I am taking pictures on my camera!
I believe people at HGA MY College will be able to see the pictures in a display case!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everybody been asking me about If I got a job.
Not yet
I think We might have to wait to August.
Alot of schools are closed for the summer
FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!!!!!!!!
WATCH WHAT YOU DO TODAY!

I don't reall believe in those things
