Bob Papa and Charles Davis to Call Super Bowl XLVIII World Feed

http://fangsbites.com/2014/01/bob-papa-and-charles-davis-to-call-super-bowl-xlviii-world-feed/

I’m always interested in international feeds of major sporting events. For the World Series or the Super Bowl, the production changes than what we’re used to seeing from the American networks as producers program for a wider audience. For Super Bowl XLVIII, NFL Films is producing the game for the international audience and will use broader storylines than what Fox will utilize on Sunday.

NBCSN to Cover EPL Transfer Deadline Day

http://fangsbites.com/2014/01/nbcsn-to-cover-epl-transfer-deadline-day/

As with the MLB Trading Deadline and NHL Trade Deadline shows, one of the more compelling days in sports is the English Premier League Transfer Deadline. It’s today and NBCSN will have a one-hour wrap-up of the day’s transfers at 6:30 p.m. ET today.
With Rebecca Lowe in Sochi, the program will be hosted by BBC Match of the Day announcer Steve Bower. He’ll be joined by NBCSN EPL analysts the Two Robbies (Earle and Mustoe) and Kyle Martino. Arlo White joins the telecast from across the Atlantic.

Forks of the Delaware Shad Fishing Tournament canceled

http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/01/forks_of_the_delaware_shad_fis_1.html#incart_m-rpt-1

FROM EXPRESS TIMES

After a storied three-decade run, theForks of the Delaware Shad Fishing Tournament may be coming to an end now that organizers have canceled the event for 2014.
Pic Schoenek, executive director for the tournament, said declines in sponsorship support and angler participation led to the event's cancellation. The tournament, which in its early days had up to 1,500 entrants, drew fewer than 300 in 2013, the 31st-annual installment.

Would Your Child Like to Be a Weatherperson?

http://lauranachman.wordpress.com

FROM LAURA NACHMAN

‘KIDCASTER’ SEARCH LOOKS FOR NEXT GENERATION FORECASTERS;
KATHY ORR AND WEATHER TEAM TO HOLD LOCAL AUDITIONS
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8 AT PLYMOUTH MEETING MALL

CBS 3 Mobile Weather Lab on site

Philadelphia, January 30, 2014 – Does your child have dreams of a career as a TV weathercaster? CBS 3 Meteorologist Kathy Orr is giving local youngsters a chance to show off their forecasting skills on television. Orr and the Eyewitness News weather team are hosting auditions for young broadcasters to audition at the “Kidcaster Search” Saturday, February 8, 12 noon to 3 p.m. in the Center Court at Plymouth Meeting Mall in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.

Orr, who has helped area teachers develop coursework for children in meteorology, began the program in 2004 to give area youngsters a chance to play TV weathercaster while encouraging their enthusiasm for science.

CBS 3’s entire weather team — Meteorologists Kate Bilo, Katie Fehlinger, Carol Erickson and Justin Drabick will join Orr in Plymouth Meeting for the auditions which are open to young people ages 6 to 16. The CBS 3 Mobile Weather Lab, the station’s weather station on wheels, will also be on location at the Mall, demonstrating the latest in weather technology.

The best performances of the February 8th “Kidcaster” try-out will be featured on the early morning and 5 p.m. editions of Eyewitness News the week of February 17th. Auditions will also be posted on CBSPhilly.com.

Youngsters will be videotaped delivering a one-minute forecast on a simulated weather set. They may bring their own forecast, make one up on site or a script will be provided. “Kidcaster gives us a chance to meet local children,” says Orr, “and, hopefully, get them excited about future careers in science and math.”

For additional details on the CBS 3 “Kidcaster Search” and an application, go tohttp://www.CBSPhilly.com/cbs3kidcaster. A parent or legal guardian must sign the application.

A retail, dining, and entertainment destination, Plymouth Meeting Mall is anchored by Macy’s, Boscov’s, and Whole Foods Market and Café and features more than 100 specialty retailers, including American Eagle Outfitters, Bath & Body Works, Charming Charlie, Express, H&M, J. Crew Factory, Justice, and Victoria’s Secret. Plymouth Meeting Mall is owned, managed, and leased by PREIT, a real estate investment trust specializing in the ownership and management of differentiated retail shopping malls designed to fit the dynamic communities they serve. The Company’s website can be found athttp://www.preit.com.

CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.

Lehigh University football coach Andy Coen will be the main speaker when the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Lehigh Valley Chapter holds its 54th annual Scholar-Athlete banquet on Sunday March 2, 2014 at 4:30 pm at the Northampton Community Center.
Coen, who has guided Lehigh to a 59-33 record over eight seasons and has won or shared three Patriot League titles, is following in the footsteps of last year's headline speaker Bill O'Brien, the former Penn State coach now in charge of the Texans.
Other speakers over the years have included the late Joe Paterno and Woody Hayes, Johnny Majors, Bobby Bowden, George Welsh, Jackie Sherrill, Lloyd Carr and Dick Vermeil.
The night features the honoring of 34 high school scholar-athletes and also the scholar-athletes from the six local college football programs (East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Muhlenberg, Moravian, Lehigh and Lafayette).
Last year's chapter scholar-athlete was Caleb Johnson of Northern Lehigh, who is now at Harvard.
The ticket price is $30. Contact Herb Barrall at 484-515-6530 by February 13.
