School events in the Lehigh Valley area

Harrison-Morton Middle School will offer a free Strengthening Families program for parents and caregivers of children, ages 10-14, 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 23 through Dec. 4. Parents and caregivers will learn to set limits, make house rules, encourage good behavior, protect children from substance abuse and handle stress. Students will learn to prepare for teen years, communicate with parents, deal with stress and avoid alcohol and drugs. Free dinner and child care will be provided. Canary College and Career Center will hold its annual College Information Night featuring more than 30 colleges, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Allen High School. McKinley Elementary School will hold an On the Road to College Fair, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24. Parents will learn how to promote their child's readiness for college. Dinner will be served. Many colleges, technical schools and military recruiters will be on hand. A school board meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Administration Center, 31 S. Penn St., Allentown.
