Northampton's Notaro advances to PIAA golf championships on third, and final, try

But in his third attempt to qualify for the PIAA golf championships, the Northampton High senior refused to allow that club become the deciding factor. Though he took more putts than shots, Notaro still finished with a 2-over 74 at the PIAA East Regional to earn a spot in next week's Class 3A state tournament. Notaro led a group of five area qualifiers, four of whom are going to states for the first time. Notaro's teammate Kevin Kunkle shot a 5-over 77 at Golden Oaks to advance in Class 3A, and Northwestern juniors Cole Miller and Nick Vecellio each shot 77 to qualify in 2A.
