Northampton C.C. volleyball, featuring lots of locals, finishes regular season unbeaten

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER The Northampton Community College women's volleyball team continues to impress. The Spartans, featuring numerous young ladies who grew up here in the Lehigh Valley, finished their regular season at 19-0 after defeating Bucks County Community College 25-8, 25-9, 25-7 on Wednesday night. "It's really more than I could have hoped for," said NCC head coach Adrian Yaguez in a school release. "I think all coaches think about going undefeated, but the reality of it is that there are so many obstacles along the way and hurdles to clear that you typically get tripped up once in awhile ... this group of girls did a great job not allowing that to happen." The team is 10th-ranked in the nation and swept their 18th match of the season. In sets played, the Spartans are an impressive 57-2 on the season. On Wednesday night, the Bethlehem Catholic duo of Anna Domyan and Ashley McCauley led with way with Domyan recording 13 kills and McCauley chalking up 27 assists. Northampton High's Kelly Yagerhofer, who leads the country in aces per set, helped her own cause on Wednesday notching 11 aces to go along with 4 kills and 2 digs. Barbara Dimon and Meghan Granite combined for 13 kills as NCC clinched the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference title. Northampton awaits the seedings for the 2012 Region XIX tournament, which will be announced on Thursday. The Spartans will most likely host a match on Tuesday October 23rd vs. an opponent from the Garden State Athletic Conference.
