Freedom High School wins $100,000 from State Farm in online contest

http://www.mcall.com/news/local/bethlehem/mc-bethlehem-freedom-state-farm-20121018,0,7876937.story FROM THE MORNING CALL Freedom High School seniors gathered in the auditorium Thursday as their principal proudly recited a litany of achievements their classmates had made to advance safety in recent years. The school's chapter of Students Against Destructive Decisions and its teacher/adviser, Jennifer Wescoe, had gotten small grants from State Farm to teach others about driving safety, Principal Mike LaPorta said. They used that money to arrange for a guest speaker, injured in a car crash, to talk about the dangers of texting while driving. They traveled with Wescoe to Minneapolis to visit with federal transportation officials. They developed skits and comic book characters to teach children about car, bicycle and driving safety.
